American Library Association - Coretta Scott Books Awards
Created in 1969 to give recognition to artists neglected by the publishing industry, the Coretta Scott Books Award honors Black authors and illustrators of children's books.

Black Caucus of the American Library Association

Cave Canem: A Home for Black Poetry
A literary organization providing a supportive environment, writing workshops and readings for African American poets, founded by Toi Derricotte and Cornelius Eady in 1996. Translated, "Cave Canem" means "beware of the dog."

Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College
Building on "the tradition and legacy of the National Black Writers Conference," the Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College sponsors readings, author programs and writing workshops that promote the study and appreciation of literature written by people of African descent.

The National Book Club Conference
